Chicago 2013

I've decided work is overrated. So after a week laying in my bed with the flu, I decided to take off to Chicago. One warm state for another! Its been a while but I have a couple people there I love to play with.

I don't know why I find traveling relaxing. Maybe its my OCD side allows me to have everything planned in detail so I can sit back and relax. Sitting at the airport I get to watch crazy people, read my books, eat my snacks and wait for the new adventure to begin. Flight was simple. I'm also becoming an expert at public transportation. Though lugging around a bunch of luggage was kind of annoying. I met up with Jen for dinner! This girl is in Chicago going to PA school! She was great and took me around town and we ate the BEST deep dish pizza I've ever had. I had multiple slices which I never do! The last leg was another train ride to Champaign.

My vacation began the next morning with cuddle time. Weston, the big grown up kid he is, was watching his cartoons getting ready for school. Yup, this kiddo gets dressed, has breakfast, and meets the bus to go to school. Love that kid! Cate in all her cuteness came down complete with guggy and kitty an hour later.  I should mention I am still getting over the flu and had the sexiest man voice in the world. So what does one do with an adorable 3 year old? We play games. Amber and I went to the gym, slept, played games, ate GREAT food, and relaxed. I've missed goofing off and talking with them. Plus Cate is all girl and a great way of showing it. I'm a pushover and gave into her constant cuteness. Can you blame me?

Amber and Scott went out on movie night. All day on Friday that's what I heard about.  The Elephant movie, chocolate milk, and popcorn. These kiddos grabbed pillows, stuffed animals, popcorn bowls, chocolate milks bottles, and blankets. While the movie choice was a bit different, movie night was hilarious. Weston is such a good kid. Wes went straight to bed, Cate pulled her cuteness out and had me in her room for about 20min talking about monsters. After they were asleep I ate ice cream and did a puzzle. Yeah I know I'm weird but I find puzzles relaxing.

The rest of the week was spent in Gymnastics, I was finally able to run again, making sugar cookies, swimming, and making great food. I did eat the best BBQ I've ever had. I may or may not have licked the plate to get the last bits. If only I could marry a sandwich that would be it. Too bad they are only in Champaign, IL.

My last day we ventured out to Chicago. I got a brief glimpse of all that city has to offer. I can't wait to go back. Amber and I both agreed it was a bit bizarre has easily that whole day went. We found parking, got to see the whales eat, easily found the cheesecake factory, the american girl store, and didn't get lost once. The kids were troopers. I was sad to say goodbye. I crashed at Jen's house that night and made the bus the next morning. I like the simple trips. You just never know what will happen. Now its back to reality. Dang.
