Angels

Walking on to work tonight was insane. I came onto work and discovered we had 3 pediatric traumas, a full trauma, and a cardiac arrest coming within 10minutes of each other. It turns out that a full minivan of kids were hit head on. When the ambulances arrive kids seemed to explode from everywhere. We had kids ranging from a few months old to tween ages with variable injuries. Most of them all turned out to be okay--a few scrapes and bruises. Overall they are lucky no one was killed. The worst part of it all though was watching one of the girls sit on the floor and stare into space. I could tell she was in shock and was close to tears. It broke my heart because there was nothing really I could do for her but sit next to her. I can't imagine going through something like that let alone as a kid. One of the cutest parts was when the younger girl sat next to her baby brother and stroked his face while we did out tests. So sweet and kind--she sat there and comforted her brother the whole time.

I believe in angels. Especially, guardian angels that watch over little kids in tragic situations. And real life angels who stand by ready to help those that need in, even in the smallest ways.
