EAGLE AIR

I'm sure this isn't new to anyone but Life changes FAST! One Friday afternoon I get a text from an old co-worker wondering if I was interested in a flight nurse position. Yeah, my jaw hit the floor. I have always loved the Lifeflight helicopter and the dream was to one day fly in it. Here was an opportunity to actually do it! Sunday I drove down and talked to Jason, Mike, and Aaron--the bigwig corporate guys. They took me up for a ride in the copter, grilled me in scenarios, and talked me through a few things. Yeah I'm hooked. Needless to say it was a major life changing decision. My shifts are now 7 12 hr shifts on and 7 off. I will get trained to do almost everything including night vision! I am going prn in the ER to keep up those skills and see my other family occasionally. Nothing has felt so right! While the decision was a lot to think through its the most peace I've had in a while. Life really is all about timing. I'm glad I'm not in charge of it!

Jack is Ruffing it at my parents house. Poor Thing is playing too hard.

Survival Skills--I may need some practice

Oh I'm still scared to death. Trust me. I got my schedule and I'm traveling a lot the next month or so various training. This week I'm in Wyoming for my initial training. OB, intubation, ACLS codes alone, pedi training, and flight physiology. Its humbly to go from where I felt on top of things to constantly being reminded I know nothing. So much to learn its amazing. A whole mentality swap in how I care for transport pt. I'm it until we get to a hospital. Yeah, not scary at all. These guys are fantastic though. They know their crap and aren't afraid to help me think through things. I may need to get in A LOT better shape to pull off this job. But I can't wait. Cross your fingers. I'm scared to death but know I'm doing what I should be!
