California in A Heartbeat

I love the moments that make me feel old. This weekend my family made a insane trip down to Visalia, California. Jordan, my cousin, gave his farewell talk. This insane little boy leaves for his mission to the Philippines on the 23rd. Out of 60 hours, we spent 24 of it in the car. But as Kristi put it we had some great family bonding time. My back, however, rebelled. I did get some excellent reading time in though. 2 books in 3 days. I highly recommend Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and The Hourglass Door by Lisa Magnum.

The Elmer Kids

California was hot. We went and supported Kyra and Jessica in their soccer games. The kids, including me, got up and had our own version of a game during the half time break. I miss playing soccer--my brothers cheat. Mostly I just loved spending time with some of my favorite people. Though being a night person I slept weird hours. I don't sleep well in cars. Jordan did amazing on his talk--he finished writing it the morning before. I teared up with the closing song--God Be With You Till We Meet Again. I can only imagine what I will do when Kevin speaks this Sunday. When did I get so old? It was fun to watch the video Amy put together of when we were little and all the wacky stuff we did as kids and how much hasn't changed.

Yeah, Sorry Dan I tried to get the Glare off your head.

Typical Jordan

My House is coming along nicely. I still sit back occasionally and can't believe its mine. I met my neighbor when her little girl--Lily--knocked on my door and let herself in. She then followed me into the house and to her mother's horror wouldn't leave. I have great neighbors. Its fun having people come over. Weston still loves my bed. I went to the park with Amber and Weston. The little adventurer is a chicken--he got himself to the highest slide and we heard the quite little, "help! help!" I crawled, yes crawled, up there and he just kept saying "help osa! No Big Slide" The little monkey was hilarious.

By the way can anyone else smell the fall in the air? I can't wait!!

  1. Waylon leaves to the Phillipines Dec. 16th of this year. We know a few other people that are leaving to the same place, so Im guessing it a great place for the missionaries right now.
