Dreams

I've been thinking a lot lately about dreams. Mostly because my sleeping patterns have been wildly out of whack. But those aren't the dreams I'm referring too. I read a blog post lately about writing our own narratives. Life is a story. Sometimes its not the storyline we originally write. In fact most of time it isn't. That doesn't mean the story isn't ours to write.

Like all good stories there are unexpected twists, developing characters, and beautiful moments. Characters for me are the most interesting part. Why? Because of who they are and where they want to be. Their dreams. My story isn't like the first draft. Not even close. Its infinitely better. Like all good characters I'm figuring out things and changing based on what I encounter. However, one thing stays the same. I never stop dreaming. Sometimes they change. Sometimes they come true. Sometimes they need to be brought to life. Sometimes they are only dreams.

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." -Harriet Tubman

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. Explore. Dream. Discover." -Mark Twain

"Do not lose hold of your dreams of aspirations. For if you do, you may still exist but you have ceased to live." -Henry David Thoreau

Dreams keep life from being monotonous. Dreams allows us to look beyond the obvious. Dreams give life direction.

What are my dreams? To honest nothing fantastic. I dream:
  • to make a difference,
  • to complete my bucket list,
  • to photograph the world,
  • to go inside someday,
  • to have a normal sleep schedule,
  • to see the world,
  • to grow a few more inches,
  • to be a better human being,
  • to have a house that cleans itself,
  • to never stop dreaming.
So maybe I am an Idiot; but I hope to give up on my dreams.
